PUBLIC MEETINGS
The Board holds regular meetings the first Monday of each month at 6:30 pm in the District Office. During the months of January, July and September the meeting schedule adjust for the holidays. Special call meetings may be called by a majority consensus of the Board. All meetings of the Board are open to the public with the exception of closed sessions, with are held for purposes specified in the Open Meetings Act.
At least 72 hours prior to the time of all regular meetings an agenda, which includes but is not limited to all matters on which action may be taken, it is posted at Brazoria County Clerks Office, Drainage District Office, Rosharon Post Office, Iowa Colony City Hall and Liverpool Post Office, and the agenda for a special meeting is posted at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. The agenda for each regular meeting is prepared by the staff in cooperation with the Board president, but any Board member may request an item be placed on the agenda.
A member of the public may request a matter directly related to District business be placed on the agenda of regular meeting if the request is submitted to District staff, together with any supporting documents and information, five days prior to the legally required public posting of the agenda. The Board may place limitations on the total time devoted to the matter at any meeting and may place limitations on the total time devoted to the matter at any meeting. This provision does not prevent the Board from taking testimony at regular meetings on matters not on the agenda that a member of the public may wish to bring before the Board, but the Board may not take action on such matters at that meeting.
The staff keeps records of official Board actions taken at all regular and special meetings, and these minutes are deemed public information.
